While achieving commercial success, waste plastic chemical recycling enterprises must strictly comply with environmental regulations, especially those related to hazardous waste management. Non-compliance not only risks heavy fines but may result in license revocation, causing irreparable losses.
Hazardous Waste Identification Boundaries for Waste Plastics According to the "National Hazardous Waste List (2021 Edition)", general waste plastics (such as waste PET bottles and PE bags) are not listed in the hazardous waste catalog and belong to general industrial solid waste, subject to "Standard for Pollution Control on Storage and Landfill Site for General Industrial Solid Wastes" (GB 18599). However, if waste plastics contain waste oil, waste chemicals, heavy metal pollutants, etc., they may be identified as hazardous waste (HW49 category), requiring compliance with "Standard for Pollution Control on Hazardous Waste Storage" (GB 18597), and a hazardous waste business license is required to operate.
Hazardous Chemical Management in Methanolysis Methanol is the main solvent in methanolysis and belongs to Class 3 flammable liquids (flash point 12°C). Production facilities must install fire and explosion protection equipment in accordance with "Regulations on Safety Management of Hazardous Chemicals", equipped with combustible gas alarms. Storage quantities exceeding critical amounts require major hazard source declaration. ResourceCycle's Huanggang factory has passed Level II safety production standardization certification, establishing a comprehensive hazardous chemical management system.
Wastewater and Waste Gas Discharge Permits Waste PET washing wastewater (containing alkali, COD) requires a discharge permit, subject to "Integrated Wastewater Discharge Standard" (GB 8978); methanol waste gas volatilized during methanolysis must be treated by activated carbon adsorption or catalytic combustion before discharge, subject to "Comprehensive Emission Standard of Air Pollutants" (GB 16297).
ResourceCycle's Compliance Practice As an industry benchmark enterprise, ResourceCycle has established an ISO 14001 environmental management system, conducts regular environmental compliance audits, maintains proactive communication with regulatory agencies, and completes environmental impact assessments (EIA) and safety assessments (SA) before new projects begin, ensuring every production link operates within the legal framework. We recommend peer enterprises engage professional environmental legal counsel early in project development, incorporating compliance costs into project feasibility analysis.
